The General, perhaps the most famous locomotive in American history, was involved in one of the most exciting adventures of the Civil War. She was built in 1855 by Rogers for the Western and Atlantic Railroad. For many years the General was exhibited in Chattanooga. It is now scheduled for exhibit near Atlanta.
