This is the East End of the Worcester Station from the Level of the ConRail Main Line (Old B&A RR).
We're looking West here. The Two Home Boards (all red) are over the Main Lines Tracks 1&2.

The building was quite run down before the beginning of restoration. They're doing a heck of a job!

February, 1999
The original station (1876) was immediately east of the present station, where the present Amtrak station stands under Route 290. Most of the station was torn down in 1910 or 1911 when the present station was built (I'd guess at 1927). Some of the 1876 station was saved for a freight station, and the tower, which was always known as the "Clock Tower" was left standing
until the 1950s and was a landmark known to everyone who'd grown up in Worcester. It would still be standing today but it was torn down to make way for the overhead highway, Rte 290, the connector to the Massachusetts Turnpike.

aFrom Michael Reidy— This is a picture from the Worcester Telegram & Gazette of the old station — Note the old crossing
sign to the left.
